Né en Grande Bretagne, Alfred Hitchcock, avant de devenir cinéaste, débuta comme concepteur de titres, de génériques et d'inter-titres pour des films muets tournés aux Islington Studios. Plus tard, son goût pour les génériques soignés sera une des marques de son style.
